Number Two Finish For The Year

Yay, another finish and this one was a few years in the making.

The stitchery was a BOM and called 'Love Is'

Next week I am off to my parents, so on the way down I will stop off in the Hawkes Bay to find a hanger for it.

So glad it is finished.

My Oldest UFO

Back in 1988, I went to the first NSW Quilt Guild's Quilt Symposium held in Armidale NSW. It was the first of its kind and a group of us spent four days(??) doing various classes from a wide range of tutors.
One of the classes I did was machine quilting - using a walking foot - we had to pre-prepare a panel and in the class we quilted.  This was all before fabric markers that vanished, so it seems we marked in pencil.  I finished the panel at the time and it has been sitting / hiding ever since.(One interstate move and one house move)

In 2011 (I think) I joined up with Sew Its Finished and it was to be one of the projects that I completed that year.  When the time came I couldn't find that dratted piece anywhere...(must have had a "tidy up" binge!!)...So I found another project.

Finally, it's a cushion......Glad to have it off the list.

Happy Dance !!!

I am delighted to be able to mark "The Postage Stamp " off my UFO list for January......

The quilt measures 52" X 73" made in 1 1/2" squares.... I quilted it in the ditch across 4 squares and down 5... looks like lots of envelopes on the back.....

Now to work out what to do for next month's finish ???

A Finish

My first UFO finish this month This month I completed a table runner out of blocks I have made for block swaps but deemed not good enough to post. I really like how it turned out.

I even managed to practice some free-motion stitching on it too

So that is one item already marked of my list.  I have also got a couple more items to add to the list in my search for things, so will add in the next few days on my blog

Thanks Wendy & Dawn

Thanks for re-generating this - hopefully it gives just a bit more push to get some things over the Finish Line.

I have both a long list of UFOs and NESPs (Not Even Started Projects!!!   found that one the other day and love it), and a short list which is what I am concentrating on for 2016.

It's on my blog - here - on the side bar but for the record - it's here - it may change of course...
In fact, there is a FaceBook group "The Spendid Sampler" where many designers will be creating 6" blocks during the year.  I have joined the group...not so sure I will be making all 100 blocks...depends on what other projects fall in front of me!

But I have already finished one project - I will blog about it soon...before the end of the month for sure.

Here's to a happy and productove 2016!

A New Year, An Updated List

So glad to see Sew Its Finished back up and running. I must say that I have accumulated a few more UFO's in the last couple of years and this blog will help motivate me to finish some.  It hasn't changed much from when I posted here a couple of years ago. Some have been finished and taken off, but the majority is still there and the stuff in this picture from a couple of years ago is still there.

So here is my list which is now also updated on my side bar on my blog.  I may add to that list as I find other UFO's, but I think most of them are there:

'Love Is' Stitchery
6 1/2 Inch Block Mini Quilt
Annie Downs Stitchery
Blackwork Mini Cushion
Brutus Cushion Cover
Charmed Hearts Quilt
Christmas Stitchery
Cinnamon Teddy Framed
Civil War Love Letter Quilt
Framing Cow Cross Stitch
Jelly Roll Quilt
Layer Cake Quilt
Mirabila Cross Stitch
Mystery Charm Squares BOM
Natures Journey Quilt
Our Craft Forum 2012 Sampler Quilt
Potholder
Sheep Virtues Cross Stitches
Snowbound BOM
Table Runner - Christmas
Table Runner 2

#1 UFO finish for 2016

I love to go through my UFO's at the beginning of each year and I always have a strong urge to work on them.

Big thanks to Wendy and Dawn for running this blog ..... it really helped me the other years we did it

I'm going through my boxes and things, taking pictures and setting up a page to list them... this is what motivates me as I like ticking off things and out of sight is out of mind in my case so if I can see them I remember....

So here is my list page  and I haven't bothered to count them.... there are also a bunch of stitcheries that are sewn and not made up... I will go through them in time so I can remember what I sewed!

I am delighted that I have just finished one of them!!! and its the HUGEST one too

I have been diligently hand stitching the binding down in the evenings this week... all  432" or 10.8metres!

It covers our Queen Size bed very well....

the top is made completely from scraps

I struggled to find a backing I liked so I bought a doona cover from Ikea ($20 special)  and cut it and joined again to make it the right size.... I love the backing too so it makes a great alternative if I want a change!

I showed the quilting I did for the blocks HERE.... it took a while!!

this quilt was made in stages over the last few years.... I'm thrilled with having a good size quilt for my bed - though at the moment it is too hot for it so it will just be a day time cover.

Righto, Gotto Go... there's more UFO's lurking.....
